Introduction
The Co-Rhythm Workshop is a hands-on exploration of gesture-based interaction, focusing on how structured guidance compares to freeform interaction in creative and collaborative contexts. This workshop provides participants with the opportunity to experiment with both approaches, fostering insights into the dynamics of user engagement, creativity, and usability in gesture-based systems.
Workshop Objectives
To explore the effectiveness of guided vs. free gesture-based interaction in fostering creativity and collaboration.
To understand how users interpret, adapt, and innovate gestures in different interaction frameworks.
To collect qualitative feedback on user preferences and usability challenges.
Structure of the Workshop
Introduction and Orientation (15 minutes)
Overview of gesture-based interaction and its applications in creative fields.
Explanation of the "guided" and "free" interaction modes.
Guided Interaction Session (30 minutes)
Participants will follow a structured set of gestures to perform a pre-defined collaborative task.
Real-time feedback and assistance will be provided to ensure smooth navigation through the system.
Free Interaction Session (30 minutes)
Participants will explore the system without predefined constraints, creating their own gestures and interactions to complete an open-ended task.
Debrief and Group Discussion (30 minutes)
Comparison of experiences between the two modes.
Reflection on creativity, usability, and engagement levels.
Collection of feedback on the preferred interaction style and suggestions for improvement.
Expected Outcomes
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the potential and challenges of gesture-based systems in creative contexts. The insights gained will contribute to the design and refinement of future gesture-based tools and platforms.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is ideal for UX/UI designers, HCI researchers, creative professionals, and anyone interested in the intersection of technology, creativity, and interaction design.
